Online learning is one of the hottest trends in education, and it’s tailor-made for stay-at-home moms. You can click your way to a college degree, without having to set foot on a campus. According to Eduventures, Inc., a Boston educational research firm, enrollment in online education programs is expected to hit the million mark by the end of 2005. And as the trend grows in popularity, so does the variety of degrees and courses available. Whether you want to complete an associates degree, Bachelor’s or Master’s, there’s an online program to help you reach that dream. (At the end of this article we’ll show you a few of the many online degree options available at your fingertips.)
Picking the Online Program That’s Right for You
Ask these questions when evaluating courses and degree programs:
- How long has the school been offering online programs?
- How long is the program? Will you be given appropriate time to finish it?
- Will the entire program be online, or will you be expected to put in some face-to-face class time?
- Will you need any special software or equipment?
- How will you submit assignments?
- Will you be able to contact the professor by email, phone or fax? Will he/she have online office hours?
- What opportunities will there be to interact with other students?
- Will there be technical support in the event of problems?
- Is financial aid available for online students?
